Swami Vivekananda Story for Students
Let me tell you a story about Swami Vivekananda, a great Indian saint who taught us an important lesson about anger and mistakes.
Once, Swamiji went to America to give lectures. He was wearing traditional Indian clothes and was encouraging people to adopt indigenous things. But, no one noticed that he was wearing foreign shoes.
After the lecture, an English woman came up to him and asked why he was wearing foreign shoes when he was promoting Indian things.
Swami Vivekananda replied that sometimes he wore foreign shoes to show the place of the British in India. Everyone started clapping after hearing Swamiji’s answer, including the English woman. He expressed his protest against the British system with a smile and a joke.
From Swamiji’s answer, we can learn that sometimes we make mistakes knowingly or unknowingly, and people criticize us.
It’s natural to feel angry in such situations, but we should control our anger and maintain patience. If we answer critics thoughtfully and calmly, we can avoid controversies and normalize situations.
So, next time you make a mistake, remember Swami Vivekananda’s lesson and try to control your anger.
