Income Tax Department appeal to link PAN with Aadhaar by March 31

According to the department, individual PAN cards not linked to an Aadhaar card will be declared inactive after the deadline has passed. After this, you will not be able to use your PAN in any financial work.
Actually, the deadline has already been extended several times by the Income Tax Department.
Income Tax Department tweeted information
The Income Tax Department tweeted on Saturday that according to the Income Tax Act-1961, it is mandatory for all PAN holders, who do not fall under the exemption category, to link their PAN card with their Aadhaar before March 31, 2023.
According to the statement, from April 1, 2023, those PAN cards which are not linked to Aadhaar will become inactive.
Inactive PAN: The Problem You May Face
The department has appealed to the people by tweeting that the deadline to link a PAN number with an Aadhaar card is very near. In such a situation, please do not delay further, link your PAN with Aadhaar today itself.
Significantly, those who do not link their PAN with Aadhaar by March 31, 2023, will not be able to get the benefit of business and tax exemption.
At the same time, if the PAN is inactive, there will be no deposit or withdrawal of more than Rs 50 thousand in banks. There will be trouble in filing income tax returns and taking advantage of government schemes.
Who needs to link Aadhaar and PAN?
Under section 139AA of the Income Tax Act, every person who has been allotted a Permanent Account Number (PAN) as on 1st July 2017 and who is eligible to obtain an Aadhaar number, is required to link Aadhaar and PAN.
In other words, such persons will mandatorily have to link their Aadhaar and PAN before the due date fixed by the Income Tax Department.
How to link Aadhaar and PAN?
Both registered and unregistered users can link their Aadhaar and PAN on the e-filing portal (www.incometax.gov.in) in both pre-login and post-login mode.
You can use “Link Aadhaar” on the e-filing homepage to link Aadhaar and PAN (Online Link) Can After this you will see a page where you will need to enter your Name, PAN number, Aadhaar number and other necessary details.
How to link PAN card with Aadhaar card via SMS
If your PAN and Aadhaar are not linked, you can link them through SMS. For this, you need to send an SMS to either 567678 or 56161 using your registered phone number.
It is to be noted here that if your name, date of birth, or gender as per Aadhaar is not matching with the PAN details then the process will fail. Then before that, you have to update your Aadhaar details.
Steps How to link Aadhaar and PAN cards via SMS
1. Type a message in UIDPAN format i.e., UIDPAN (space) 12-digit Aadhaar number (space) 10-digit PAN number.
2. The SMS needs to be sent from your registered number only to either 567678 or 56161.
3. You will get a confirmation message about the Aadhaar and PAN card linking.
