Your Competition is With You Only
Article: It’s true that life is a competition, but it’s also true that it’s not a race against anyone else. The real journey is only against yourself and your unattained potential.
It’s a kind of trap to compare yourself to others and we, too often, fall in this trap of comparing ourselves to other people. It is observed so often everywhere that many young people compare their life with others and continue to compete with others their whole life. They see someone who has a bigger house, or a nicer car, or earns more money, or has the “perfect family”, and they begin to chase after (in their minds)what someone else has.
They lose their joy by comparing themselves constantly to others and become miserable. They never feel complete and satisfied with their life. There is nothing wrong if you admire others, or allow someone else to inspire you, but don’t fall into the trap of comparing to them.
The best way to make sure that you are competing with yourself and not with others is that you should be very clear and specific about the goals or accomplishments of your life. Make sure that your goals are clear, specific, attainable and measurable.
The real comparison you should make is with who you were yesterday. Keep learning new things, keep trying to improve and be the better version of yourself. You must be focused on who you are and what you are becoming. If you can become a little better than what you were yesterday, you are on the right track.
