CBSE Launches Young Warrior Movement for Teachers & Students

The rapid spread of the COVID-19 pandemic has forced our everyday routines to take a backseat. We have collectively witnessed a rise in public fear and anxieties. Children are especially affected by this. We need processes, tools and systems for engagement that will help children be better Informed, get Inspired by, encourages them to take initiative to understand and overcome their fears. We are therefore excited to present to you the teacher’s manual for the #YoungWarrior program curated by Slam Out Loud in partnership with CBSE, YuWaah and UNICEF and supported by Cognizant. #YoungWarrior is a nationwide movement to engage 5 million youth to lead action against COVID-19 and impact 50 million people. This manual has been made just for you to support your students through engaging sessions to learn about Covid appropriate behaviours through the power of performance and visual art.

Through 5 art sessions, co-facilitated by Slam Out Loud and YOU! together, we would enable a child to

•Learn steps to prevent and combat the virus

•Understand and navigate emotions through the pandemic

•Learn to advocate for and promote the right information

•Learn to take care of their immediate surroundings and family members

•Understand how to extend support within their communities

As educators, you have the most important job in the world! You are shaping young minds who will be the catalysts of change in the future. This year has been tough for all of us, and especially for you. The shift to online mode of teaching has been challenging but it has not stopped you from using your power of love to inspire students and take them on a journey of self- discovery. You have shown immense courage in these trying times and we hope this manual supports you in passing it on to your students and empowers them. We are grateful for all that you do for your communities, your colleagues and your students.

CBSE Notification about Young Warrior Program

This is according to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) circular No. 33/2021 – Notification Number 51/2021 and Circular Number 64/2021 regarding Young Warrior Movement which is running successfully in collaboration with UNICEF and YuWaah.

On 14th July 2021, an orientation session was held for teachers to engage students more meaningfully in the young warrior movement through 5 engaging and informative art-based sessions for their students. To disseminate the session details amongst all teachers and students, schools are requested to nominate at least 2 teachers as nodal points who can register at https://tinyurl.com/7742ukkc.

Please Note: Those who have registered previously need not register again.

Starting 22nd July, the classroom sessions will be held as per the schedule below. Teachers can either conduct this LIVE in their online classes or allot a suitable time with their students to conduct the same. The sessions are expected to be held in a blended manner, with 30 minutes for the YouTube session, followed by 30 minutes of activity as per the teacher’s manual that can be accessed here:Download Here

Please note that these workshopsare open to all teachers&students of CBSE affiliated schools and you may circulate the session details within your school.For more queries and feedback, the schools may write to youngwarriors.cbse@gmail.comThe sessions are expected to make students aware of right protocols, information to ensure Covid Appropriate Behaviour, dispel vaccine hesitancy, mental health, among others. Through expressive activities of poetry, theatre, and other art forms, students will inspire positive change and action in their communities. These will be in line with the 5 virtual tasks1 around COVID-19 that students have been engaging in and earning certificates issued jointly by CBSE, UNICEF &YuWaah. The sessions will be supported by UNICEF through a teacher training workshop and co-facilitating support for student sessions.
