NCERT and CIET Teacher Training Starts: An Online Dive into eContent for Math Education
oin NCERT’s comprehensive online training on ‘Developing eContent for Teaching and Learning of Mathematics’ from August 21st-25th. Boost your e-teaching skills with live sessions, interactive quizzes, and gain certification
NCERT’s eContent Training for Mathematics Education
The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, in its Section 23.6, underscores the vital role technology will play in reshaping India’s education landscape. The core of this transformation:
- Integration of tech-driven teaching and learning methods.
- Creation of an adaptable and flexible eContent tailored to different student needs.
- Leveraging Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) for dynamic and interactive eContent, encompassing simulations, games, tests, and interactive graphs.
Addressing the Complexity of Math Education Digitally
Traditional teaching has its limitations, especially in subjects like Mathematics which demand a profound conceptual understanding. However, the digital sphere provides remedies:
- Clause 24.4 (d) of NEP 2020: Stresses the creation of digital educational materials.
- Challenges in Math Education:
- Math anxiety and varying learning styles.
- Engagement issues with conventional teaching techniques.
- Difficulties in effective assessment.
Traditional Challenges | Digital Solutions |
---|---|
Engagement Issues | Interactive visualizations |
Math Anxiety | Personalized learning |
Assessment Difficulties | Instant feedback |
One shining example of such a digital solution is GeoGebra. This mathematics software marries algebra, geometry, and calculus, paving the way for:
- Enhanced visualization and interactive learning.
- Reinforced understanding of concepts.
- Integrated subject learning and effective digital assessments.
CIET-NCERT’s Initiative: Training the Educators
To actualize this digital transformation in education, CIET-NCERT is spearheading an online training initiative:
- Frequency: Every fourth week of the month, from Monday to Friday.
- Timing: 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
- Special Session for July: A dedicated five-hour online training titled “Developing eContent for Teaching and Learning of Mathematics”.
Duration: 21st August 2023 to 25th August 2023.
Objective: Illuminate the ‘What’, ‘Why’, and ‘How’ of interactive educational resources.
Encouraging educators and stakeholders to participate, this initiative by CIET-NCERT promises to foster a more inclusive, engaging, and digitally advanced educational ecosystem.
Objectives of NCERT CIET Teacher Training
After completion of the training, the learner will be able to:
- understand the significance of eContent for teaching and learning in Mathematics education.
- identify the various components of GeoGebra, including the Graphing, Geometry, and Algebra views.
- explain the benefits of using eContent to teach and learn 2D geometry.
- design eContent that covers specific 2D geometry topics.
- explain and create the value of eContent in facilitating the understanding of 3D geometry concepts.
- identify and define key concepts in calculus, including limits, derivatives, integrals, and applications in real-world contexts.
