Teacher Training By NCERT on Digital Technology

In an effort to equip Indian education stakeholders with the aptitude and skills to harness the power of digital technology, the Central Institute of Educational Technology (CIET) under the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has announced a series of online training sessions scheduled for August 2023.

These NCERT interactive Training sessions are part of the broader initiative outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which seeks to leverage technology to achieve educational accessibility for every child in India, transforming the nation into a “Global Knowledge Superpower” by 2030.

An Inevitable Integration

As technology continues to rapidly evolve, its incorporation in the education sector has become essential. Embracing digital tools can significantly boost both educators’ efficiency and students’ academic pursuits, given the virtually limitless resources available on a wide range of topics.

However, the digital divide must be bridged to fully reap the benefits of online education – a task that the Digital India Campaign and the availability of affordable computing devices aim to address.

A Focus on Stakeholder Engagement

The NCERT recognizes that for effective technology implementation, it’s crucial to orient various stakeholders – including teachers, students, teacher educators, and administrators. For August, a five-day online training series from 7th August to 11th August 2023 is slated, dedicated to “Leveraging Digital Technology for School and Teacher Education”. The training aims to enlighten stakeholders on the necessity, significance, advancement, and practical utilization of digital technology in education.
