Ask for the Caption Deliverable Before Finishing a Lesson Video

Before finishing a recorded lesson, ask how the receiving platform expects its captions. It may need a separate timed-text file, or the teacher may want words permanently visible in the picture. Those outputs require different checks. A name label over a speaker is useful, but it does not represent the lesson’s spoken explanation.

Name the files that need approval

Keep the video version with the caption version made for it. If an answer was shortened or moved during editing, an earlier transcript can remain readable while its timings no longer match. Check the first cue, a passage in the middle and the ending to locate a mismatch, then review the complete lesson.

For Final Cut Pro, this SRT role, timing and sidecar-export walkthrough distinguishes an exported caption file from words drawn into the image. Confirm the required language and time basis. A file that imports successfully still needs a check against the final edit.

If the correction involves a changed cut or another project control, describe that change before looking up the operation. The editing and caption sections collected by Final Cut Hub for Mac video projects help the editor find the relevant task. Keep the approved wording available while correcting its placement.

Review labels as a separate layer of information

A lesson may also need a speaker’s name, an equation label or a heading above a demonstration. In Lightworks, the guide to text effects and the span they occupy helps you check where that label belongs. Review it over the moving picture so it does not cover the action or outlast the scene it describes.

Keep a list of the labels separately from the transcript. If one is wrong, identify its wording and the scene rather than asking for “better subtitles”. Use Lightworks Guide’s editing and delivery topics for the corresponding operation, then check the revision in the intended viewing format.

At handoff, identify the approved movie and any separate caption file. Open them through the receiving platform’s actual workflow and confirm the chosen language displays with the right lesson. If captions must be switchable, check that behavior there. If text is permanent, review the exported image with that understanding before distributing it to students.
