Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) – reg. Dear Principals As you are aware, ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day)’ is observed every year on 31st October to commemorate Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’ birth anniversary. It not only commemorates the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the architect of national integration of independent India, but also re-affirms the inherent strength and resilience of our nation to withstand threats to the unity, integrity and security of the country.

In view of the ongoing initiative of the Government of India for celebrating 75 years of India’s independence under Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, National Unity Day this year will follow the same theme. In keeping with the tradition, schools are requested to celebrate the National Unity Day this year in a befitting manner.

Schools may encourage the students to participate in the following activities:

1. National level Story Writing competition on the theme ‘The contribution of paired State/ UT in India’s Struggle for Freedom’ from 31st October 2021 to 30th November 2021 at MyGov platform. The competition will be bi-lingual and open for students of classes 6 to 12.

2. Observance of Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat Utsav in all schools on any suitable date of this week or in the coming week for students of classes 1 to 12 across the county; wherein

a. Students will themselves research and in project/activity-based learning mode prepare a Unity Pledge based on their understanding of the Indian Constitution.

b. Students and Teachers may be encouraged to take unity pledge, as circulated by MHA (copy enclosed) during the morning assembly in their own language and in the language of the paired States/UTs.

Students of senior classes (classes 9-12) may showcase (online/offline) their projects on the culture, customs, dress, agriculture, climate and topography which they may have completed as part of the curricular activity.

Schools are required to submit a report of the celebration of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas at the link on or before 05.11.2020.
