Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar (SVP) 2021 -2022
Welcome to Shikshapress. The Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar has been instituted by the Ministry of Education, Government of India to recognize, inspire and celebrate excellence in sanitation and hygiene practice in schools. The purpose of the SVP is to honor schools that have undertaken significant steps towards fulfilling the mandate of the Swachh Vidyalaya Campaign. SVP is based on IT enabled assessment of WASH infrastructure, hygienic practices and COVID-19 appropriate behaviour.
Key objectives of Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar
- To recognize, inspire & celebrate excellence in sanitation and hygiene.
- To honor schools that have undertaken significant steps towards fulfilling the mandate of the Swachh Vidyalaya Campaign & adhering to the standards of hygiene & cleanliness.
- To promote sustainable practices of improved water sanitation & hygiene in schools
Criteria of evaluation
The performance of the schools will be evaluated under the following sub-categories
- Drinking-Water
- Toilets
- Handwashing with Soap
- Operation and Maintenance..
- Capacity Building
- “COVID-19 preparedness and response” (newly added in view of the COVID pandemic).

The awards are categorized at the District level, State and National level

Eligibility for Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar
The awards will be open to both rural and urban schools for the following categories
- Government schools
- Government Aided schools,
- Private schools
How to apply for Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar?
All Government, Government aided and private schools from both rural and urban areas are invited to apply for the Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar
The registration of schools would be done with the UDISE+ code of the school *
Schools will first complete the primary information section in the prescribed format and submit.

* If you do not have a UDISE+ code , download the Data Capture Format (DCF) and submit at Block / District / State level office to generate the UDISE+ code .
Stages of the Swachh Vidyalaya Awards process
Online submission of applications by the schools – Jan- March 2022
Selection of schools for the awards at the district level – 1st April – 15th May 2022
Submission of results for the State/UT level awards – Till 22nd May 2022
Submission of results for the national level awards – 1st July – 7th July 2022
Cross validation at national level – 7th July – 7th September 2022
Tentative date for the national level award ceremony – 15th October 2022 (Global Hand Washing Day)
