CBSE Board Exam 2024: Detailed SOPs and Guidelines for Practical Exams
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially released a set of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and guidelines for the upcoming practical examinations of classes X and XII. These CBSE Board exam guidelines aim to streamline the board examination process and ensure uniformity and accuracy in the evaluation.
In CBSE official notification it’s mentioned that, “To bring in uniformity of instructions and to ensure the correctness of procedures Guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the conduct of practical examinations/ project/ internal assessment of both the classes have been prepared by the CBSE.”
“It has been observed that some schools are committing serious mistakes and requesting the CBSE Board to change the result after its declaration. Schools are being, therefore, directed to follow the instructions, as no request will be accepted by the CBSE to change the uploaded marks in any manner.”

Uniform Guidelines: CBSE emphasizes the importance of uniformity in conducting practical exams. Schools are instructed to strictly adhere to the provided guidelines to ensure fairness and standardization.
Mandatory Compliance: The cbse board warns that failure to comply with these directions could lead to the cancellation of the practical examination for the concerned school.
Exam Schedule: The practical exams for both classes X and XII are scheduled between January 1 and February 14, 2024. The theory examinations are set to commence from February 15, continuing until April 2.

Mark Submission Protocol: Schools are required to upload the marks for all practical examinations, projects, and internal assessments immediately after the exams. The deadline for uploading marks is strict, with no extensions permitted.
Accuracy in Marking: The responsibility of ensuring the accuracy of uploaded marks lies with the school, the internal examiner, and the external examiner. Post-upload corrections are not allowed.
Class X Practical Exam Materials: For class X, practical answer books will not be provided by the CBSE. Schools are responsible for arranging necessary materials, and these answer books do not need to be sent to the regional office post-exams.
Fairness in Evaluation: The CBSE mandates that any student found attempting to influence examiners or involved in unfair practices will face severe consequences.
Session Management: For classes with more than 30 students, the practical exams should be conducted in multiple sessions to maintain an effective assessment environment.

Role of External Examiners: Only external examiners appointed by the CBSE are authorized to conduct practical exams. Schools are not allowed to make alternate arrangements.
