Extended School Holidays in Punjab Amid Severe Rain and Flooding
Educational News: In light of recent severe weather conditions, the Punjab government has decided to extend the closure of all government, aided, recognized, and private schools across the state till the 16th of July, 2023.
This decision, according to a tweet from the office of the Honorable Chief Minister of Punjab, S. Bhagwant Maan Ji, is a direct response to heightened security concerns brought on by persistent heavy rainfall and consequent flooding in the region. The extension aims to prioritize student safety, avoiding unnecessary travel and possible exposure to hazardous conditions.
Previously, schools were closed until the 13th of July, with the new extension adding an additional three days to the enforced holiday.
“We are taking every necessary measure to ensure the safety of our students. We understand the inconvenience this may cause to the academic calendar, but we firmly believe that our children’s safety comes first,” said a representative from the Chief Minister’s office.
