Prime Minister’s Awards for Outstanding Contribution towards the Development and Promotion of Yoga at National & International Levels.

Yoga is an invaluable gift of the ancient Indian tradition. Yoga is known for disease prevention, health promotion and management of several lifestyle-related disorders.

Amid growing acceptance of Yoga across the world, the Ministry of AYUSH has invited applications/ nominations for Prime Minister’s Awards for Yoga 2023.

These Yog awards recognize the exemplary contribution made towards the development and promotion of Yoga at both the national and international levels.

Ministry of AYUSH tweeted information about the PM Yoga Awards

The Ministry of AYUSH gave information by tweeting about this award given for excellence in Yoga. The ministry tweeted that nominations for the prestigious Prime Minister’s Awards for Yoga 2023 are now open. Submit your application/nomination now.

Categories of IYG 2023 – PM Yoga Awards

According to the ministry, two national yoga awards will be given to institutions of Indian origin and two international yoga awards to institutions of Indian/foreign origin.

PM Yoga Winner Announcement

The winners of PM Yoga 2023 will be announced on the occasion of the 9th International Yoga Day (21st June 2023). Recognizing its universal appeal, on 11 December 2014, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) passed a resolution declaring 21 June as the International Day of Yoga (IDY).

The Objective of the PM Yoga Awards

PM Modi on the 2nd International Day of Yoga announced two Yoga Awards (one International and the other National) to be given on the occasion of International Day of Yoga.

The objective of these Yoga awards is to recognize and felicitate the individual(s)/ organization(s) who have made a significant impact on society through the promotion and development of Yoga.

Apply by March 31 for PM Yoga Awards 

The application/nomination process for the IYD awards for the year 2023 is currently hosted on the MyGov platform.

The link for this is also available on the website of the Ministry of AYUSH and the National Awards Portal. The application/nomination process for this year’s IYD 2023 awards will be open till March 31, 2023.

Two-Tier Selection Process for PM Yoga Awards 2023

The selection process for the awards follows a two-tier system, for which two committees namely the Screening Committee and Evaluation Committee (Jury) will be constituted by the Ministry of AYUSH.

The Evaluation Committee (Jury) is headed by the Cabinet Secretary and its members include the Advisor to the Prime Minister, Foreign Secretary, Secretary, and Ministry of AYUSH, among others. It lays down the selection and evaluation criteria for finalizing the recipients of the awards.

Ayush Ministry’s focus on Yoga

The Ministry of AYUSH is planning to organize this year’s International Day of Yoga globally by ensuring massive community participation. The ministry will widely publicize the benefits of yoga using the WHO myYoga app, Namaste app, Y-break application and various people-centric activities and programmes.

Various activities like IDY Pledge, Poll/Survey, IDY Jingle, IDY Quiz and ‘Yoga My Pride’ photography contest etc. are proposed to be launched on the MyGov platform.
