Union Minister Introduces PM Kisan Mobile App for Improved Farmer Services

Govt Launches New PM Kisan Mobile App
Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shri Narendra Singh Tomar proudly announced the release of the PM Kisan Mobile App, integrated with a revolutionary Face Authentication Feature.
The PM Kisan app was launched as a part of the central government’s esteemed Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, a unique initiative for supporting farmers financially.
A testament to the modernization of agricultural services, this face authentication feature enables farmers to remotely complete e-KYC, thus eradicating the need for OTP or fingerprint scans. Furthermore, the app has empowered 100 farmers to perform e-KYC at home.
Extension of e-KYC Facility to State Officers
Understanding the criticality of e-KYC, the Government of India has extended the e-KYC facility to state government officers, enabling them to complete the process for 500 farmers each.
Nationwide Virtual Event for PM Kisan Mobile App Inauguration
The app’s launch was celebrated at an event held at Krishi Bhavan, New Delhi, where thousands of farmers, state and central government officials, representatives of government agencies, and agricultural organizations connected virtually via Krishi Vigyan Kendras nationwide.
PM Kisan Scheme: An Ambitious Project for Farmer Welfare
The Union Minister highlighted the comprehensive and ambitious nature of Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi. He applauded the diligent role of state governments in implementing the scheme, enabling the disbursement of scheme instalments to approximately 8.5 crore farmers post-KYC.
The data thus compiled will help in streamlining PM-Kisan benefits, ensuring seamless data verification.
Harnessing Technology for the PM Kisan Mobile App
Shri Tomar emphasized that the PM Kisan scheme, designed to directly provide benefits to farmers sans middlemen, has only been possible due to technological advancements.
The PM Kisan app developed by the Government of India simplifies the process, ensuring smooth implementation.
Call for Accelerated Work by States
Shri Tomar urged the states to expedite their efforts so that the benefits of the PM Kisan Mobile App can be extended to all eligible beneficiaries.
Looking Forward: Increasing Accessibility for Farmers
The Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Shri Kailash Choudhary, echoed the benefits of technology in agriculture. He believes that the new features of the PM Kisan Mobile App will provide immense convenience to farmers.
In line with this, efforts are being made to connect more farmers with the app, and certificates will be awarded by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare to the youth who assist in this endeavour.
The Power of Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) Through PM Kisan App
The PM Kisan scheme, as one of the world’s largest DBT initiatives, assures an annual transfer of Rs 6,000 into Aadhaar-linked bank accounts of farmers in three installments.
It has successfully transferred 2.42 lakh crore to more than 11 crore farmers, including over 3 crore women. In challenging times, such as the COVID-19 lockdown, PM Kisan Yojana provided direct financial assistance, boosting farmers’ confidence.
PM Kisan Mobile App: Resolving Verification and Account Updation Issues
The newly launched PM Kisan Mobile App promises to resolve issues related to Aadhaar verification and bank account details updation on the PM Kisan Portal, thanks to the effective use of digital public goods.
The 13th installment of PM Kisan was successfully disbursed to over 8.1 crore farmers directly into their Aadhaar-linked bank accounts, a record achievement enabled by this App.
Facilitating a Farmer-Friendly User Interface
Easily downloadable from the Google Play Store, the PM Kisan Mobile App offers essential scheme-related information and updates on PM Kisan accounts.
Farmers can check the status of land seeding, linking of Aadhaar with bank accounts, and e-KYC through the No User Status Module.
In an effort to enhance accessibility, India Post Payment Bank (IPPB) has also been engaged to open Aadhaar-linked bank accounts for beneficiaries at their doorstep, and CSCs are organizing village-level e-KYC camps with the help of States/UTs.
