National Talent Search Examination (English: National Talent Search Examination or NTSE) is a national-level scholarship scheme in India to identify students with high intellectual and academic potential. [citation needed] Only those students are eligible for this examination. Those who are studying in class X can sit. It is run by the National Council of Educational Research and Training.

National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) is a national level scholarship program. Every year this scholarship is awarded to 1000 meritorious students.

Successful candidates get financial assistance every month in the form of scholarship till the end of their studies. Students studying in 10th can participate in it. It is conducted by NCERT in two phases. The first phase is at the state level and the second phase is at the national level. Phase I examination has been held in November 2015 and Phase II examination (Stage 2) for the qualified students will be held on May 08, 2016 at 36 centers across the country.

How to prepare for National Talent Search Exam ?

About 4 thousand students selected in Stage-1 to be held at the state level are involved in Stage-2. There are two parts to this exam. There is Mental Ability Test in Part One and Scholastic Aptitude Test in Part II.

Mental Ability Test : 50 questions are asked in this with 50 marks. Students get 45 minutes to write the answer.

Scholastic Aptitude Test: This also has two parts. The first part is a language test consisting of 50 questions. 45 minutes is allotted for this. The second part consists of 100 questions from Science, Mathematics and Social Science. The time taken for this is 90 minutes. There is also a provision of negative marking in this exam.

Details : 

This scholarship is given in different stages. 1250 per month for 11th and 12th students who qualify Stage-2. Get. 2 thousand per month for graduation and post graduation. Whereas for PhD students get scholarship based on the standards of UGC. The age of the students should be less than 18 years as on 1st of July every year as the basis for the scholarship. It is mandatory to get minimum 40% marks in each subject. Minimum 35% marks are prescribed for reserved category. The first phase of the exam is held every year in November. Its information is available from the Liaison Officers of the states, whose list is available on www.ncert.nic.in.

For all students studying from class 10th onwards (irrespective of class/curricular) the amount of scholarship is Rs. 1250/- per month, scholarship of Rs.2000/- per month for undergraduates and post-graduates, Ph.D. Except where it is provided as per UGC norms.

NTSE Scholarships: On the basis of the conducted examination, 1200 scholarships will be given from each group of students appearing in the class X examination.

What is the Eligibility for NTSE ? 

Eligibility for NTSE : Students studying in Class X of recognized schools are eligible to appear in the test conducted by the States or Union Territories in which the schools are run. There is no restriction of locality.

The NTSE exam is divided into two parts: Mental Ability Test and Scholastic Aptitude Test. The syllabus includes subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Social Studies and General Knowledge.

Proportionate calculation of quota for the State/UT will be done on the basis of enrollment of students in class 9 and 10.

Under the present scheme, scholarships are provided to the candidates for pursuing doctoral level courses in science and social sciences and professional courses up to the second degree level in medical science and engineering subject to the fulfillment of the conditions given in this prospectus.
Selection Process.

The selection process for this scholarship is followed in two stages. Under the first phase state level examination is conducted. The students who are successful in the state level examination can appear in the second stage examination conducted by NCERT. The quota has been given for the number of students from all the states and union territories, under which an equal number of students will appear in the second stage examination. But there is no provision for any quota in the case of scholarship after the second stage examination.

Exam Scheme

The mode of written examination for class 10th will be as follows:

There will be two parts in the examination in the state or union territory of the first stage.

* Mental Ability Test (MAT) and

* Scholarly Aptitude Test (SAT), in which questions are asked from the subjects of Social Science, Science and Mathematics.

In the second stage national level examination-

* Mental Ability Test (MAT),

* Scholarly Aptitude Test (SAT), consisting of questions from Social Science, Science and Mathematics.

* Interview- Only those students who are successful in the national level written examination are invited for the interview.
