Punjab Schools to Begin at 9:30 AM Due to Dense Fog
Important News: Due to the dense fog and changing weather conditions in some parts of Punjab, the school timings have been changed for all government, aided, recognized, and private schools in the state.
Punjab Education Minister announced a change in the school timings across the state, effective from December 4, 2023, to December 23, 2023. This decision, taken under the guidance of Honorable Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Maan, aims to safeguard the health and safety of students and teachers amidst the dense fog and changing weather conditions prevalent in parts of Punjab.
As per the directive, all government, aided, recognized, and private schools in the Punjab state will now commence their sessions at 9:30 AM. (an adjustment from the usual timings, to accommodate the foggy conditions that typically occur in the early mornings). Additionally, the schools will recess at 3:30 PM. This change in schedule applies uniformly to all levels of schooling, including primary, middle, high, and senior secondary.
New school timings:
- Opening time: 9:30 AM
- Recess: 3:30 PM
These new timings will be in effect from Monday, December 4, 2023, to December 23, 2023.
The Education Minister S. Harjot Singh Bains emphasized that the wellbeing of students and teachers is paramount, and such measures are necessary to ensure their safety during adverse weather conditions. Parents and guardians are advised to take note of the new timings and plan their schedules accordingly to ensure a smooth transition during this temporary period. The education department also urges school authorities to ensure strict adherence to the new timings for the welfare of all involved.
