Ministry of Education invites suggestions on Draft National Curriculum Framework for School Education
Educational News: National Curriculum Frameworks (NCF) under the National Education Policy 2020 is a comprehensive effort towards transforming the education system in India.
The NEP 2020 envisages a shift from the existing 10+2 structure to 5+3+3+4 and focuses on competency-based education with cultural rootedness, equity and inclusion, multilingualism, experiential learning, and integration of arts and sports in the curriculum.
Ministry of Education has launched nCFs for different levels of education with NCF for School Education, NCF for Early Childhood Care and Education, NCF for Teacher Education and NCF for Adult Education.

What is the National Curriculum Framework (NCF)?
The National Curriculum Framework (NCF) is a comprehensive framework developed under the National Education Policy 2020 for different levels of education, It’s including School Education, Early Childhood Care and Education, Teacher Education, and Adult Education.
With a focus on competency-based learning, cultural rootedness, equality and inclusion, multilingualism, experiential learning, and curricular integration of the arts and sports, the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) seeks to improve India’s educational system.

What is the process of developing NCF?
The process of developing NCF involves a participatory process of deliberations and inputs from diverse stakeholders, including teachers, parents, students, educational institutions, neo- and non-literates, subject experts, scholars, childcare personnel, etc.
Extensive public consultations in face-to-face, as well as digital mode, are carried out. The inputs are analyzed, and the National Steering Committee, under the chairpersonship of Dr. K. Kasturirangan, guides and undertakes the development of NCFs.
How can I provide feedback on the NCF?
Specifying the stage of school education, curricular area, school governance, assessment, etc can provide feedback on the NCF. Feedback can be sent via email to ncf.ncert@ciet.nic.in. It is essential to keep in mind that this is a pre-draft of the NCF, which still requires several rounds of discussion within the National Steering Committee.
The feedback from diverse stakeholders will further help the NSC to look critically into the different modalities and approaches that this framework is proposing.
What is the status of the NCF for different levels of education?
The National Curriculum Framework for Foundational Stage (NCF-FS) has been launched by the Ministry of Education in October 2022, and the NCF for School Education – Pre-Draft is also ready. Developing NCFs for other levels of education, including Early Childhood Care and Education, Teacher Education, and Adult Education, is underway.
