Shri Dharmendra Pradhan launches Comic Book Developed by NCERT and UNESCO “Let’s Move Forward”
A Step Forward in Promoting Holistic Health and Wellness Among Students
Union Minister for Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, officially released an inventive comic book titled “Let’s Move Forward”.
The release function occurred on August 29, 2023, at Kaushal Bhawan, New Delhi. Other eminent personalities including Secretary for School Education Education and Literacy, Shri Sanjay Kumar; Secretary for Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Shri Atul Kumar Tiwari; Director of NCERT, Dr. Dinesh Prasad Saklani; and officials from the Ministry of Education and UNESCO were also present.
Book’s Aims and Objectives
The Minister, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, emphasized that this comic book aims to engage students in a comprehensive way by combining entertainment with essential health and wellness education. He further elaborated on the book’s importance in developing societal well-being and harmony.
Strategic Partnership with UNESCO
The Minister lauded the collaboration with UNESCO during India’s G20 Presidency and discussed how comic books like “Let’s Move Forward” can play a crucial role in disseminating Fundamental Literacy and Numeracy (FLN). He encouraged UNESCO to circulate Indian stories globally, mentioning the values of ‘Explore’, ‘Experiment’, and ‘Experience’.
Collaborative Efforts for Wellness
The comic book represents a joint venture between NCERT and UNESCO New Delhi, aiming to fulfill the objectives of the School Health and Wellness Programme (SHWP). Initiated under the Ayushman Bharat campaign in 2018, the SHWP strives to offer health education and to expand access to health services via wellness centers located within educational institutions.

Contents and Accessibility of “Let’s Move Forward” Book
The “Let’s Move Forward” comic book is skillfully designed to meet the diverse needs of young people, covering 11 thematic areas related to health and wellness. These topics range from emotional well-being and gender equality to substance abuse prevention and internet safety. The comic book is available in 11 languages, ensuring its reach across different linguistic communities.
Nationwide Distribution
This health-centric comic book will be widely disseminated across educational and health establishments, including State School Education Departments, SCERTs, Colleges of Teacher Education (CTEs), and state health departments. An electronic version will also be available on Ministry of Education (MoE), NCERT, UNESCO, and DIKSHA websites.
