Join for the online training on “Open Educational Resources (OER) and Licenses,” organized by CIET-NCERT in collaboration with the Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia (CEMCA) from July 15-19, 2024.
How Can Open Educational Resources Transform Education?
NCERT has consistently supported the transformative potential of Open Educational Resources (OER) in modern education. These resources can significantly enhance accessibility and equity by providing free, high-quality learning materials.
They can be freely adapted and shared, ensuring that all students, regardless of their socio-economic background, have access to the same educational resources.
What Are Open Educational Resources?
In a 2002 conference, UNESCO defined Open Educational Resources (OER) as “… learning, teaching, and research materials in any format and medium that reside in the public domain or are under copyright.
These materials have been released under an open license, permitting no-cost access, re-use, re-purpose, adaptation, and redistribution by others.”
Why Are OER Important for NEP 2020?
The democratisation of knowledge through OER promotes a more inclusive learning environment. This makes OER immensely significant in the implementation of NEP 2020 across all sectors of education in India.
How Does CEMCA Support OER?
CEMCA focuses on assisting governments and institutions in expanding the scale, efficiency, and quality of learning. They use multiple media in open, distance, and technology-enhanced learning.
CEMCA has championed the cause of OER since the beginning of the movement. This training is part of their ongoing effort to raise awareness and knowledge about OER.
What Is CIET-NCERT Doing to Promote OER?
CIET-NCERT, in collaboration with CEMCA, is orienting various stakeholders in exploring and implementing Open Educational Resources and Licensing. This training helps stakeholders understand the opportunity OER offers in improving access to and quality of education.
By enabling the use of high-quality, free, and easily accessible learning materials, this online training programme empowers teachers and educational stakeholders.

What Are the Benefits of OER?
The training will highlight the numerous benefits of OER. These include improved access to diverse educational materials and innovative teaching approaches. The programme also provides guidance on navigating OER repositories and licensing.
By breaking down barriers and making quality education accessible to all, OER plays a crucial role in modern education. Join us in understanding and leveraging these powerful resources to create a more inclusive and effective learning environment.
