CIET-NCERT Online Training on “Cyber Threats”
Understanding the Importance of Cyber Safety
The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 emphasizes integrating cyber safety education into educational curricula. It recognizes the critical role of digital literacy in today’s interconnected world. As technology advances at an exponential pace, our reliance on digital platforms for communication, commerce, and information access has grown exponentially.
While these advancements have brought numerous benefits and opportunities, they have also exposed us to a myriad of cyber threats. These threats can compromise our personal and collective security. It is crucial to address these threats to ensure a safer digital environment.
What Are the Key Cyber Threats We Face Today?
The digital world is rife with risks, ranging from phishing to state-sponsored cyber warfare. These threats affect individuals and nations alike, resulting in financial losses and data breaches.
The interconnected nature of our online activities and the widespread use of mobile and Internet of Things (IoT) devices amplify these vulnerabilities.
Cybersecurity awareness is crucial in this context. Additionally, the rapid pace of technological advancement introduces new challenges.
These include the emergence of artificial intelligence-driven cyber-attacks and the increasing sophistication of ransomware campaigns. Moreover, the shift towards remote work and digital transformation initiatives has expanded the attack surface. This creates new avenues for cybercriminals to exploit.
