National War Memorial, India Gate, New Delhi
The prestigious National War Memorial (NWM) Monument was dedicated to the nation on 25 Feb 2019 by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India.
The iconic India Gate in Lutyen’s Delhi was constructed in 1931 by the erstwhile British empire to commemorate the Battle Casualty (Fatal) of India during World War I as well as Third Anglo-Afghan War. It stands tall as a must visit monument for visitors in New Delhi. Out of over 83,000 Indians who laid down their lives, India Gate bears 13,516 names, etched all over the monument.
The memorial includes the dedicated area in honour of soldiers who have been conferred with ‘Param Vir Chakra,‘ the nation’s highest Gallantry Award. The design of the memorial exemplifies the supreme sacrifice made by a soldier in the line of duty that makes him immortal and depicts that the spirit of a soldier remains eternal. The memorial has a distinct scheme of concentric circles namely Amar Chakra, Veerta Chakra, Tyag Chakra and Rakshak Chakra.

- This is a solemn place; please display dignied and respectful conduct.
- Walk on the designated pathways only.
- Keep mobile phones on ‘Silent’ mode.
- A flower may be placed at the base of Tyag Chakra walls.
- Pay appropriate respect at Amar Chakra. While entering Param Yodha Sthal.
- People in unorm to salute.
- Take care of accompanying children.
Dont’s at National War Memorial NWM
- Do not make noise or talk loudly.
- Smoking and consumption of alcohol/intoxicants are strictly prohibited.
- Kindly do not touch the Murals, Busts and Honour Walls.
- Lighting candles / diyas (lamps) are not permitted.
- Do not carry eatables, bags or suitcases.
- Do not use tripods/ professional photograph stands.
- Demonstration and sticking of posters or graffiti is prohibited.
