On Mathematics Day 2023, we remember Ramanujan for his unique contributions. He didn’t have formal math education but solved complex problems and is celebrated as ‘the man who knew infinity’. He joined prestigious math groups in London and was the first Indian at Trinity College in Cambridge, which led to the creation of National Mathematics Day.

Ramanujan’s work in math was diverse. He wrote about numbers, series, and much more. His work was published widely, and there’s even a number named after him: 1729.

This day is not just about remembering Ramanujan; it’s about showing the importance of math. The government and schools in India help make math exciting and accessible. They organize special events and teach about Ramanujan’s contributions to math in India and worldwide.

Dr. Manmohan Singh, a former Prime Minister of India, announced National Mathematics Day in 2012, and we celebrate it every year on Ramanujan’s birthday, honoring his legacy in math.
