JEE Advanced Exam Changes: Students from 2023, 2024, and 2025 Batches Allowed Three Attempts to Improve Scores

In a significant decision, the eligibility criteria for JEE Advanced exams have been revised to benefit aspirants aiming to enter premier IITs in India. Candidates will now have the chance to take the JEE Advanced exam three times over a span of three consecutive years, marking a departure from the previous two-attempt rule.
This modification is expected to particularly aid students by giving them additional chances to improve their scores.
For students set to appear in the 2025 JEE Advanced exams, those who completed their Class 12 exams in 2023, 2024, or 2025 are eligible to sit for the test. However, candidates who passed their Class 12 exams in 2022 or before will not be eligible.
Application Process and Exam Dates for JEE Main 2025
The registration for JEE Main 2025 has commenced, with the application deadline set for November 22. The examination will be conducted in two phases, with the first session scheduled for January and the second for April 2025. Candidates will also be given the opportunity to correct any errors in their applications until November 18. Clearing JEE Main is mandatory for students to qualify for JEE Advanced.
JEE Main 2025 Eligibility for Class 12 Exam Appearance
To be eligible for JEE Advanced 2025, candidates must have completed their Class 12 (or equivalent) exams in 2023, 2024, or 2025 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. Those who first appeared for their Class 12 exams in 2022 or earlier are not eligible.
However, if a board issued results for the 2021-22 academic year on or after September 21, 2022, students who took their Class 12 exams in 2022 from that board may be eligible, provided they meet all other requirements. If the board released results before this date and a candidate’s result was delayed, they are not eligible for JEE Advanced 2025.
JAM 2025 Application Updates
The application process for JAM (Joint Admission Test for Masters) 2025 has been completed, with candidates allowed to make corrections in their forms until November 18. The JAM exam will be held in February 2025 and includes subjects such as Biotechnology, Economics, Geology, Mathematics, Mathematical Statistics, and Physics.
The results of JAM will be accepted by over 100 institutions across India for Master’s admissions in programs like MSc, MSc-PhD dual degrees, and more.
