The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), a leading spacefaring nation, is now focusing on educating school children about space exploration.

How is ISRO Contributing to Space Education?

ISRO has successfully accomplished many space missions, including 124 spacecraft missions, 96 launch vehicle missions, 17 student satellites, 6 re-entry missions, and the launch of 432 foreign satellites.

To further its educational mission, ISRO’s Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS) in Dehradun has announced a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) titled “Overview of Space Exploration” for school students.

The objective of this online course is to provide knowledge and awareness to school students on various aspects of space science and technology.

During the course, technical sessions will be delivered by eminent space scientists from India. This is a unique opportunity for the young generation to understand the exciting domain of space science and technology.

Procedure to Participate in the ISRO Course

To participate in the course, please follow these steps:

Registration: Register for the course through the URL: https://isat.iirs.gov.in/mooc.php.

Account Activation: Upon successful registration and activation of your account, you will receive your login credentials for the E-CLASS Learning Management System (LMS) via email.

Accessing Course Content: Daily technical sessions will be available on the IIRS E-CLASS LMS. To access your course, log in at: https://eclass-intl-lms.iirs.gov.in/login/index.php.

Video Sessions: The course includes a total of 10 hours of online video sessions. You can watch these videos at your convenience, and multiple viewings are allowed. Your attendance will be automatically recorded based on video watch logs.

Study Material: You can download PDF versions of the study materials for future reference from the E-CLASS LMS.

Quiz Assessment: After completing the video sessions, participate in the quiz assessment available on the E-CLASS LMS.

Availability: All technical sessions and learning resources will be accessible under your account on the E-CLASS LMS until August 2, 2024.

Discussion Forum: A discussion forum is available in the E-CLASS LMS for collaborative learning. You can post questions and doubts in the forum.

Course Feedback: Before generating your course certificate, you need to submit course feedback through the E-CLASS LMS.

Credential Recovery: If needed, you can recover your login credentials at any time during the course by visiting: https://eclass-intl-lms.iirs.gov.in/login/index.php.

Award of Certificate

The Course Participation Certificate will be awarded by IIRS ISRO based on your attendance in the technical sessions and your score in the online quiz assessment. A minimum score of 60% in the quiz and 70% attendance in the video sessions are required to receive the course participation certificate.
