IIT UQIDAR PhD Scholarships: The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IITD) and the University of Queensland (UQ) in Australia have joined forces to launch an innovative joint PhD program.

This initiative is designed to nurture the talents of scholars from various disciplines, offering them a unique chance to broaden their academic horizons by studying in two renowned institutions across different continents.

Eligibility Criteria for IIT UQIDAR PhD Scholarships

To be eligible for this prestigious program, candidates must have a strong academic background, evidenced by a minimum of 6.5 CGPA or 65% marks in their Master’s degree in Engineering or Technology.

For SC-ST applicants, there is a relaxation of 5% in these marks, making the program more inclusive.

While scores from exams like GATE, UGC NET, CSIR, ICAR, ICMR, and DST-INSPIRE are considered, they are not mandatory.

However, candidates must have secured at least 80% or 8 CGPA in their undergraduate degree in Engineering and Technology, with a 5% relaxation for SC-ST applicants.

IIT UQIDAR PhD Scholarship Benefits

Selected scholars will benefit from a comprehensive scholarship package aimed at fostering academic and personal growth. In the first year at IITD, meritorious students will receive a monthly scholarship of up to Rs 41,000.

The journey continues in Australia, where, during the second year at UQ, students will be awarded an annual scholarship of AUD 32,192 (approximately Rs 17 lakh).

Upon returning to IITD for the third and fourth years, the scholarship amount increases to a monthly stipend of Rs 45,000. Additionally, a one-time transfer grant of AUD 5,200 (around Rs 2.75 lakh) will be provided to cover travel expenses between Delhi and Brisbane.

Moreover, the UQ tuition fees will be waived for Indian scholars, and a housing allowance will be available for those opting not to stay on campus, further easing the financial burden and ensuring a focus on academic pursuits.

IIT UQIDAR PhD Scholarship Overview for I-Students

Indian nationals and international applicants (excluding Australian citizens) are eligible for scholarships as i-students.

UQIDAR Scholarship Details

  • Year 1 (at IITD): I-students receive a monthly stipend of Rs 41,000*.
  • Year 2 (at UQ): An annual stipend of A$32,192* is awarded.
  • Years 3 and 4 (at IITD): A monthly stipend of Rs 45,000* is provided.
  • Relocation Support: A relocation grant of A$5200* assists with return travel between Delhi and Brisbane.
  • Health and Well-being: Overseas Student Health Cover (single policy) is included for the year spent in Brisbane.

Tuition Fees and Other Charges

  • UQ Tuition: Waived for i-students, except for a required Student Services and Amenities Fee of A$324* for the year at UQ.
  • IITD Tuition: I-students must cover the IITD tuition fee throughout their studies.

Additional Benefits

  • Accommodation: At IITD, an additional House Rent Allowance is available for i-students not residing in campus housing, following IIT Delhi’s policy for PhD students.
