Sahodaya School Complexes: Creation of a New Sahodaya School Complex
In 1987, CBSE brought out a publication titled, “Freedom to learn and freedom to grow through Sahodaya School Complexes” (SSCs) which characterized “SSCs” as a voluntary association of schools in a given area, who through mutual choices, have agreed to come together for a systematic and system-wide renewal of the total educational process.
What is Sahodaya School Complex?
The procedure to be followed is below in easy steps:
If you do not have Sahodaya School Complex (SSC) in your city, you may collaborate with your neighboring schools to create a new Sahodaya School Complex.
Step 1 : Coming together of Schools
Coming together of 5-10 schools located geographically close to each other
Step 2 : Election of Office bearers
Convening of a meeting of the Principals of all the member schools by the Principal of any one-member school to elect a President, Secretary, Treasurer and other office bearers on a rotation basis
Step 3 : Naming the SSC
Naming the constituted Sahodaya School Complex (SSC)
Step 4 : Drafting Bye Laws for the SSC
Drafting a set of bye-laws for the SSC by the members delineating the aims of the voluntary body, the functions, duration of office etc. of office bearers, list of main activities, periodicity of meetings, subscription etc.
Step 5: Opening of a Bank Account
Opening an account in a local bank in the name of the SSC to be operated jointly by any two office bearers. The account should be audited annually and details circulated to all the members.
Step 6 : Preparation of Annual Action Plan
Preparation of an action plan for the whole year in consultation with all the members. Allocate duties for carrying out different programmes among members. The members should meet at least once a month to review the activities and take up any issue of academic nature for discussion.

Step 8: Updating information
Once the SSC has been registered, the SSC has to re-elect its office bearers after every 2 or 3 years (as decided mutually by the members of the SSC) on a rotation basis. The details of the new office bearers have to be updated on the Sahodaya School Complex website and CBSE Sahodaya micro website
How to Create a Sahodaya School Complex ?
iii. An account in a local bank may be opened in the name of the Sahodaya School Complex to be operated jointly by any two office bearers. The account should be audited annually and details circulated to all the members.
iv. An action plan for the whole year may be prepared in consultation with all the members. Duties for carrying out different programmes may be allocated among members. The members should meet at least once a month to review the activities and to take up for discussion any issue of academic nature.
v. Once a Sahodaya Complex has been formed, the Secretary may send the details with names, addresses, phone numbers and e-mail ids of the President and Secretary to Director (Academic, Resarch, Training and Innovation), Central Board of Secondary Education, at cbsesahodayas@gmail.com. What is the procedure for opening a Bank Account in the name of the Sahodaya School Complex?
• Register the Sahodaya School Complex with the Registrar of Firms and Societies
• Form an Executive Body with Office Bearers either elected or nominated
• Prepare Bye Laws and submit with a nominal fee for the opening of a bank account in the name of the Sahodaya School Complex
