CBSE LATEST CIRCULAR: The aim of the CBSE ARM webinars is to help you engage and enthuse your learners in Computer Science. Combining the use of Physical Computing with Project-Based Learning, delivered in carefully-planned lessons, your learners can experience Computer Science as a creative subject where technical skills are developed in tandem with employability skills, such as problem-solving and teamwork.

There are many different aspects to achieving this effectively and this webinar series will help you with everything from taking your first steps in Physical Computing to effectively assessing Project-Based Learning and delivering exciting maker-events in your school. Details of each webinar are provided in the table below. (Source: ARM)

CBSE in collaboration with the ARM School Program (ASP) shall be conducting a series of webinars on the theme of ‘Teaching with Physical Computing’ for teachers as per the schedule mentioned below:

Dates and Topics of Webinar for Teachers

1. Get started with Physical Computing – Hardware and Technologies to enhance Learning.

This course is aimed at teachers who are complete novices in physical computing. The course introduces the micro:bit – an example of a Physical Computing device designed for young learners, enabling them to go from plugging it in to uploading their first program on the device within 5-10 minutes.

Date and Time: 21st September 2022 (Wednesday)

2. Introducing Physical Computing and Project Based Learning.

This course introduces the concepts and pedagogy that underpin Project-Based Learning (PBL) using Physical Computing. It explores the practices, techniques, pre-requisites and practicalities that need to be understood to successfully implement Physical Computing and PBL in a classroom.

Date and Time: 19th October 2022 (Wednesday) 

3. Contexts are key – How to create successful Project Based Learning projects from any context or subject.

This course explores how contexts can be used effectively in project-based learning. into resources to create an engaging and inspiring learning experience.

Date and Time: 23rd November 2022 (Wednesday)

4. From Play to Projects – Shaping Learning with Project Based Learning.

The course focuses on the transition years between primary (Grades K-6) and secondary (Grades 7-12). It explores how to keep learners engaged with STEM & Computing while they tackle more complex projects that draw out the computational techniques required in the formal curriculum.

Date and Time: 18th January 2023 (Wednesday)

5. Assessing Projects in Physical Computing.

This course covers the basics of assessment and how to effectively assess ProjectBased Learning lessons. The course will guide teachers in assessing group work, as well as how to build both summative and formative assessments into projects where appropriate.

Date and Time: 22nd February 2023 (Wednesday)

6. Developing Employability Skills with Project Based Learning/ Physical Computing.

This course explores how ProjectBased Learning can be used to develop employability skills in learners. The course will explore how such skills are defined and you can present learners with opportunities to develop them by applying a PBL pedagogy to lessons alongside relevant and engaging contexts for your learners.

7. How to run an ARM School Program (ASP) Innovation day

This course will guide teachers/facilitators in setting up and running an ASP Innovation Day, with examples and templates for several projects. It provides guidance on logistics, IT, safeguarding and ensuring an effective learning experience.
