CBSE Launches First Office in Dubai
In a significant move for Indian education, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially opened its first Regional Office (RO) and Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Dubai. This is the first CBSE office to operate outside India, marking a new chapter in its global outreach.
When was the CBSE Dubai Office inaugurated?
The announcement came from Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to the UAE on February 13, 2024. The CBSE Dubai office started its operations on July 2, 2024, at the Consulate General of India in Dubai. This milestone brings CBSE services closer to Indian students and schools in the region.
To mark the occasion, CBSE hosted a special Teachers’ Day orientation session. Principals from 78 schools across Dubai and the Northern Emirates gathered with CBSE officials and representatives from the Indian Mission. The session explored the mission and vision of the new office, laying the groundwork for enhanced educational standards.
What are CBSE’s goals for its Dubai office?
Dr. Ram Shankar, the Director of CBSE RO & CoE in Dubai, shared the board’s objectives for the region. He emphasized the focus on outcome-based education, aiming to improve teaching methods and learning experiences. The new office will prioritize art-integrated learning, health education, and the introduction of skill-based subjects to meet global educational standards.
How will the CBSE Dubai office benefit students and teachers?
The CBSE Regional Office will oversee exams for students in the region, ensuring smooth operations. Meanwhile, the Centre of Excellence will focus on in-service teacher training, offering cutting-edge skills and knowledge to educators. The goal is to help teachers stay updated on the latest trends and global teaching methodologies, enriching the classroom experience for students.
What are the key changes in CBSE’s assessment approach?
CBSE is bringing assessment reforms to make education more competency-based and student-friendly. Dr. Shankar highlighted the board’s plan to introduce case-based and competency-focused questions, develop Annual Pedagogical Plans, and promote experiential learning through sports, storytelling, and toy-based learning.
How will this impact the Indian community in the UAE?
In his address, Satish Kumar Sivan, the Consul General of India in Dubai, stressed the importance of this initiative. He stated that the Centre of Excellence will empower teachers with top-notch training, allowing them to stay ahead of innovations and best practices. “This will enrich the learning experience for students,” he remarked.
The new office represents hope and progress for thousands of students, educators, and parents in the UAE. It is set to become a hub of academic support for the region, ensuring that CBSE’s values of excellence and innovation are upheld for years to come. (With ANI Inputs)
