CBSE Official Circular Calls for Nationwide ‘Run for Unity’ to Celebrate Rashtriya Ekta Diwas
Honoring the Architect of National Integration
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued an official circular urging schools across India to celebrate Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, also known as National Unity Day, on October 31. This date commemorates the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, recognized as the architect of national integration after India gained independence.
Fostering Unity and Integrity
CBSE’s circular outlines specific activities to be conducted in schools to mark this significant occasion. It emphasizes the importance of fostering and reinforcing the commitment to the unity, integrity, and security of the nation, reflecting on the contributions of Sardar Patel.
Planned Activities for Rashtriya Ekta Diwas:
1. Unity Pledge in Morning Assemblies: Schools are encouraged to administer the ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ Pledge during morning assemblies. The CBSE circular includes the text of this pledge, aiming to instill a sense of unity among the students.
2. Nationwide ‘Run for Unity’: A central event of the celebration is the ‘Run for Unity.’ Students, staff, and the local community are invited to run for distances that are convenient to them.
The ‘Run for Unity’ is scheduled to take place early in the morning (Morning Assembly) on the 31st of October and may include speeches about Sardar Patel’s role in national integration by principals, senior faculty members, or students.
3. Debates, Speeches, and Exhibitions: CBSE Schools are also asked to arrange debates, speeches, and exhibitions that honor and educate about Sardar Patel’s life and his efforts in uniting India.
Reporting and Participation:
Following the celebration, schools are expected to submit a brief report of the ‘Run for Unity’ and other related activities through a provided link by November 4, 2023.
A Call for Inclusive Participation:
CBSE circular highlights the importance of inclusive participation, suggesting special outreach to ensure that street children, including those with disabilities, can join the ‘Run for Unity.’
Outreach and Information Dissemination:
Finally, CBSE mandates principals to disseminate this information among all educational stakeholders and to encourage enthusiastic participation in the Run for Unity.
Through this circular, CBSE showcases its commitment to the ideals of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and aims to instill these values in the younger generation through active participation in Rashtriya Ekta Diwas events.
