CBSE Introduces New Online Course for Teachers in Collaboration with UNESCO MGIEP

In alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP-2020) by the Ministry of Education (MOE), Government of India, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has launched a groundbreaking online course for teachers.

This initiative, in collaboration with UNESCO’s Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Education for Peace and Sustainable Development (MGIEP), aims to foster continuous professional development (CPD) for educators.

All the programs are open to Principals / teachers of all CBSE affiliated schools interested in online teaching and building learning experiences.

It has been specially designed for K-12 teachers, educators, curriculum developers, instructional designers, or practitioners interested in using digital technologies to create learning experiences.

What is the Purpose of NEP-2020?

The NEP-2020 envisions an education system that develops rational, compassionate, and resilient individuals equipped with scientific temper and ethical values.

To achieve this, the policy emphasizes continuous professional development for teachers, advocating for at least 50 hours of CPD opportunities annually.

How is CBSE Facilitating CPD for Teachers?

CBSE, in partnership with UNESCO MGIEP, has developed an innovative digital course titled “The Digital Educator: A Primer”. This 15-hour course introduces teachers to digital pedagogies, blending pedagogy with technology to create enriching learning experiences. The course is structured into five quests:

What Are the Expected Outcomes of the Digital Educator Course?

Participants of this course will learn to:

  • Utilize digital tools like Padlet, Mentimeter, Kahoot, Genially, and GeoGebra in teaching.
  • Recognize and adapt to learner variability, customizing lesson plans based on individual needs.
  • Navigate the web securely, access information efficiently, and communicate responsibly.

When and Where is the Course Launch?

The Digital Educator course will be launched on 24th July 2024. An orientation session for principals and teachers is scheduled on the same day from 12:00 pm to 01:00 pm. The session will be conducted via Webex and streamed live on the CBSE Department of Skill Education’s YouTube channel.
