Orientation Session for Principals/Heads of Institutions & Capacity Building Programs for Teachers
on Augmented Reality/ Virtual Reality (AR-VR) and Digital Citizenship (Skill Module for Middle School)
CBSE Latest Circular: In an exciting step towards a more tech-savvy educational curriculum, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has introduced Augmented Reality – Virtual Reality (AR-VR) and Digital Citizenship as two new skill modules for classes VI-VIII for the academic year 2022-23.
These subjects aim to stimulate students’ interest in immersive technologies while also educating them on their responsibilities as digital citizens.
A Focus on Immersive Technologies and Digital Responsibility
The subjects introduced cover crucial aspects of digital citizenship for students, such as digital etiquette, cybersecurity, cyberbullying, and information literacy.
They also spotlight the potential for using the internet for social good, and the future of our digital world with engaging topics such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), AR/VR, and the emerging realm of the Metaverse.
The emphasis is on experiential and activity-based learning, keeping student engagement at the heart of the pedagogy.
Orientation and Capacity Building Sessions for Educators
In order to further familiarize educators with these new skill modules and enable a broader number of schools to opt for these subjects, CBSE is organizing a virtual orientation session specifically for Principals and Heads of the Institutions.
Following this CBSE orientation, capacity-building sessions will be conducted every month for teachers of all CBSE-affiliated schools, to ensure they are equipped to effectively teach these subjects.

Additional details on how schools can integrate this and report on related activities will be provided during the upcoming orientation session, offering educators valuable insights into implementing these new educational modules.
