The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has unveiled the ‘AICTE Approval Process Handbook for Academic Year 2024-2027,’ providing clear guidance for institutions seeking approval to offer technical and management programs. This AICTE handbook marks a significant step in streamlining accreditation procedures.

In an unprecedented move, the AICTE opened the draft of the handbook to the public domain, actively seeking input, suggestions, and feedback from stakeholders and experts. Over 600 valuable suggestions were received, demonstrating the commitment to transparency and inclusivity. Collaboration led to the incorporation of many valuable suggestions into the final draft.

The AICTE handbook introduces the provision of extending approvals for up to three years, acknowledging the excellence of well-performing institutions. However, stringent criteria demand exceptional infrastructure and qualified faculty before expanding intake capacities. Recognizing excellence and fostering institutional growth through extended approvals is a pivotal aspect.

Simplified Compliance Processes

Streamlining compliance burdens, the handbook reduces the need for land documents and No Objection Certificates (NOCs) from affiliating entities. It also introduces an off-campus provision for well-performing institutions. Simplified processes aim to make accreditation more accessible.

Covering undergraduate programs in computer applications (e.g., BCA) and management (e.g., BBA/BMS) under AICTE’s purview ensures synchronized growth.
