In adherence to the Aadhaar Enrollment and Update Regulations of 2016, all citizens are required to periodically update their Aadhaar card details, including proof of identity and address certificates, every 10 years.
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) continually emphasizes the importance of keeping Aadhaar information current. Updating Aadhaar helps prevent identity-related frauds and ensures accurate demographic data.
Important Update Deadline:
The deadline to update Aadhaar information for free on the MyAadhaar portal is June 14, 2024. Beyond this date, charges will be applicable for any updates made to identity and address proofs.
Initially set for March 14, 2024, UIDAI extended the free update facility deadline to June 14, 2024, to facilitate easier compliance for citizens.

Fee Structure for Aadhaar Updates:
Until June 14, 2024, there is no fee for updating Aadhaar card information online. However, a nominal fee of Rs 50 applies for updates made at physical Aadhaar centers.
Post-June 14, 2024, a fee of Rs 25 will be levied for updating Aadhaar documents online through the MyAadhaar portal.
The last date to update Aadhaar for free on the MyAadhaar portal is June 14, 2024. Beyond this date, updates to identity and address proof will incur fees.
How to Update Aadhaar Card Online for Free:
- Visit the MyAadhaar portal.
- Click on the Login button and provide your Aadhaar number and captcha code.
- Enter the OTP received and proceed with login.
- Click on the ‘Document Update’ button.
- Read the guidelines and click on ‘Next’.
- Verify your demographic details by ticking the appropriate box and proceed.
- Upload your Proof of Identity and Proof of Address documents.
- Click on the ‘Submit’ button.
- Receive a ‘Service Request Number (SRN)’ via email for tracking updates.
Your Aadhaar card details will be updated within 7 working days, provided all documents are submitted correctly.
