Structure and Participation Science Challenge 2024-25

The challenge encompasses two rounds: the first within schools and the second, an inter-school contest. Remarkably, there are no participation fees at either stage.

The initial round is open to all students from classes 8 to 10, requiring schools to register their students. In the subsequent round, schools can nominate six students—two from each class—based on their performance in the first round.

Format and Recognition

Participants will tackle a science challenge paper filled with various stimuli and multiple-choice questions (MCQs), testing both speed and accuracy. Following the second round, all participants will receive an online participation certificate from the CBSE. Additionally, top performers will be honored with Appreciation Certificates.

This challenge will be hosted on the CBSE platform during April and May 2024. The theme for this year’s CBSE Science Challenge is Science, Environment, and Sustainability, reflecting the urgent need for ecological education and sustainable development.

Detailed Overview of the CBSE Science Challenge 2024-25

Participation and Structure

  • The CBSE Science Challenge comprises two rounds: within-school and inter-school competitions.
  • Participation is free of charge for students at both stages of this enriching activity.
  • All students of classes 8 to 10 in CBSE affiliated schools are eligible for Round One. Schools must register students for this round. For Round Two, each school can nominate six students (the top two from each class) previously registered.

Format and Recognition

  • The challenge will include various stimuli followed by multiple-choice questions (MCQs), focusing on both speed and accuracy.
  • Participants of Round Two will receive an online participation certificate from the Board. Outstanding performers will be awarded Appreciation Certificates.

The Science Challenge – 2024-25 shall be conducted in two stages:

A. Round One (First Stage)

For Round One (First stage), the schools need to fill up the number of students taking part in Round 1 on the Science Challenge Portal from 10th April 2024 to 19th April 2024. To avoid last-minute rush, schools are advised to mention the number of students for Round 1 well before the last date.

ImportantAn affiliated school can log in to the Science Challenge Portal at https://cbseit.in/cbse/2024/sciencecomp/login.aspx using the LOC credentials.

  • On 22nd April 2024, a Science Challenge paper with MCQs would be made available to the registered schools along with the scoring criteria on the same portal.

The CBSE school shall organize the Challenge for the registered students between 22nd April 2024 to 26th April 2024 and identify 06 students (02 each from Classes 8 to 10) on the basis of their performance on the assigned tasks for Round-1.

  • The school shall subsequently register the identified students for Round 2 on the CBSE Science Challenge portal between 29th April 2024 to 07th May 2024.

B. Round Two (Second Stage)

  • A computer-based Science Challenge would be conducted by the Board for the registered students between 13th May 2024 to 17th May 2024. Only the schools that have completed the first stage and subsequently registered students for Round Two shall be eligible for the second stage.

The detailed modalities of the conduct of this test shall be communicated to the schools that register students for the second round of the challenge.
