The Police Commemoration Day is observed on 21st October every year. This is day is observed as Martyr’s Day in all police forces of India. The day commemorates the sacrifices of ten policemen who sacrificed their lives while defending our borders with China in 1959.

Police Commemoration Day History 

“Police Commemoration Day” is celebrated by the Central Reserve Police Force and all the police forces of the country every year on 21 October. This day commemorates the ten forces who lost their lives defending our borders with China on 21 October 1959. It is celebrated in memory of the sacrifice of brave soldiers.

When is the first Police Day celebrated in India?

National Police Day | Police Commemoration Day – In January 1960, the annual conference of Inspectors General of Police of the States and Union Territories was held. In that conference, a decision was taken to honor the brave policemen who were martyred in Ladakh and other policemen who lost their lives on duty during the year. It was decided to celebrate ‘Remembrance Day’ on 21 October every year in his honor.
