CBSE Announces Revision in Class 12th Accountancy Exam Pattern

Overview of the Revised Pattern for 2024 Exams
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has introduced changes to the exam pattern for accountancy stream students who are preparing for the 2024 class 12 board exam. This new pattern will take effect from the 2024 board exam. The board has posted a notification about this change on the official website, and students can download it directly from there.
Official Communication to CBSE-Affiliated Schools
The CBSE Board has communicated this change through an official notice to the principals of all CBSE-affiliated schools. The Related CBSE official notice available as a PDF, announced that based on stakeholder feedback, they will discontinue the use of answer sheets with pre-made tables for the Accountancy subject starting from the 2024 examination. Thus, like other subjects in class 12, the 2024 Accountancy exam will use general row answer sheets.
CBSE’s Decision to Revise the 12th Accountancy Answer Sheet: The Why Behind It
CBSE has actively communicated this change through an official notification to all affiliated school principals. They took this step based on feedback from various exam-related stakeholders. Previously, the accountancy answer sheets included pre-made tables on the last 7-8 pages. Now, students have the flexibility to craft their tables according to their question-solving needs. This allows for greater adaptability, as students can redraw a table if errors arise.
One of the primary reasons for this change revolves around the checking process. Historically, when students needed to create a table for a particular accountancy question, they would answer on one page and then jump to the last page to draw and complete their table.
This disjointed approach posed challenges for teachers during the evaluation process, as they had to cross-reference answers with the respective questions continually. To streamline this process and make evaluation more efficient, CBSE decided to remove the pre-made tables from the answer sheets.
